I'm 40 years old, I went to Germany for a 3 level disc replacement in October of 2019. They used the M-6 disc, these discs are far ahead in design and function than what was previously used. They respond to movement and restriction almost exactly like the human disc. I had a great experience, 5 days after surgery I was walking 10,000 plus steps per day, once home I continued to walk, stretch and slowly exercise. I was playing non-contact hockey by January 1 of 2020. I feel great. My lower back feels like it did at age 20. Based on my experience I would recommend anyone with chronic back pain to consider artificial disc replacement, but with none other than the M-6 disc, unless a newer better one is available. Today I am fully functional, no pain. The only thing I am working on today, is to improve is my flexibility. I had back pain for 15 years and lost flexibility due to extreme pain, and 3 failing discs. The doc and physiotherapist said in time flexibility comes back. Do not settle for spine fusion, do not get back surgery today unless they are using the M-6 disc or something newer and better...as far as I know this is the most recent disc development in spine technology.
