回复 #4410 七弦月光 的帖子
Ms Yan came back today for followup. She was accompanied by her husband.
She has had the repeat MRI scan done on 7/3/2017.
MRI scan shows stable appearances on the left-hand side at the L5/S1 level with minimal residual neuro- compression from a left-sided posterolateral L5/S1 disc prolapse. I have reviewed the radiology report and correlated my findings with the report.
There is nothing sinister going on. There is no evidence of cauda equina.
Today, I spent time discussing her problem and answering her questions. I reassured her that surgery is not indicated for her problem as her leg pain is now intermittent and has significantly improved. Her back pain is a bother but it should settle slowly over 6-24 months. It does not demand any form of surgical intervention at this stage.
Plan: If she wished to be referred for some physiotherapy, I would be happy for you to action this but I have told her to walk for an hour a day, six days a week and to maintain her healthy lifestyle. She has a stable and trustable back and I have no specific restrictions for her.
I gave her a copy of comparative MRI scan slices between the November 2016 and the MRI scan done yesterday 7/3/2017, for her reference.
I have discharged her with advice.
Kind regards, Yours sincerely
